Hey everyone. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. 3 years ago today or tomorrow (yikeessss, bad wifey) CJ asked me to only date him, instead of going on dates with different people besides him. (Hasssshtag scandalous) It was what I ultimately wanted. He let my roommates take his car to get Taco Bell (our staple while dating) so he could ask me. He sat on the couch next to me while I wore a robot onesie pajamas 😉 and asked me to be his girlfriend. We have never looked back since, but fall always reminds me of milestones in our relationship. I started falling in love with this human in fall, so it always is a sweet time of the year for us.
Updates on Us
CJ and I have experienced some changes yet. (If you guessed that I’m pregnant… you’re right! NOT.) I had multiple texts that asked if I were expecting, but I’m not, homies. Surprisingly, I got a real web marketing job. At the same time, CJ was promoted at BYU-Idaho’s health center.
I am doing SEO for a business headquartered here in Rexburg. SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization” which is basically making it so your website organically comes up first on a google, bing, etc. search. I honestly have been loving it and haven’t felt like the “I hate life” feeling when getting up for work. It was such an answer to my prayers! As always, Heavenly Father’s timing is perfection. I recently started wearing foundation which is weird every morning. Because I was a dancer in high school, I had to wear a ton of makeup for competitions. This made for the worst experience with foundation because I was just sweating underneath all the makeup. Yikes! Did you know that I didn’t wear it? I’m trying to get back into loving makeup because I took a five year hiatus.
CJ is now the head of the student health center. He will continue at that job until he graduates next December. We are excited for this opportunity for him. CJ already had the most amazing resume for what he is going into, but this is just the cherry on top. Again, Heavenly Father is so aware of us. It literally chokes me up a little as I write this. Another one of our blessings is that CJ is a genius and I’m constantly annoyed when he tells me the grades he gets on test. (FYI.. I’m a terrible test taker). I do, however, feel vindicated when he doesn’t quite understand my job or how to explain it to other humans.
We are currently trying to find a good show to watch on Netflix. I am constantly on the hunt for clean shows to watch, so if they make me have a bad feeling–BYE BYE! (leave suggestions below)! I also am loving cooking again because it’s relaxing when you have time, instead of how I used to feel about it. I’m constantly trying new recipes to feed CJ and myself, and I’m happy to report that CJ has only disliked a few dishes. If you have any recipes, please leave them/a link below! We still love McDonalds, the Taco Bus and anything that has to do with Indian food. I’ve also recently become obsessed with Wendy’s. Makes sense right? LOLZZZ.
I’m so excited for Christmas, I could almost cry! CJ says, “NO WAY” to me putting up the tree. I honestly can justify putting it up because we’re gone for the last two weeks of December. To please him, I will wait until the middle of November…but not a second later.
Goals We are Working Towards
- I’m trying to get CJ to eat Kraft Mac and Cheese because, wow! You gotta enjoy it with loved ones, no?
- Help CJ fold up blankets after he uses them (hashtagg.. I hate this hahaha).
- Stay sane until Christmas
- CJ wants it to never snow, Cortney wants snow
- Continue to try and help others! (CJ is champ at this)
- Cortney wants the garage disposal to never smell (Who has tips for me?)
Some Things You Should Know
Our life isn’t perfect. Photos have a way of deceiving you. We enjoy good content too, but never think that I don’t have problems. Today, I had the biggest break out ever, so I’m grateful that it wasn’t too noticeable on the photos! Haha. Silly, but true. CJ probably gets annoyed with me daily..(CJ, you can object below!). We are constantly striving to be better, cleaner, kinder and happier. We are at a point in our marriage that is so sweet. I personally love it. And I love my cute, lanky husby.
Ask any questions below. We are happy to help you get to know us better. We’re excited to have you.
