Holiday Series: Christmas Lights

Hi everyone! If you’ve been following along on Instagram (ahem, if not click here!), then you already know what today’s post is. After a funk of lack luster inspo, I’ve decided to create a series. I only really have the “Agren Update” series currently, so it was time for another. This way, you can know what to expect at least once a week.

The series is for holiday currently. It’s all about wearing outfits to the right activities. Everyone knows it feels awful to be overdressed… or worse, underdressed for an event! Don’t make that mistake as we say farewell to 2016. Start the new year of fashion early with easy to replicate outfits here on HLSS.

Today, I’m showing you how to appropriately dress to see Christmas lights with friends or family. Regardless of where you live, there is usually some spectical to go see. My sister lives in Kansas City currently, and I’ve loved getting videos of my darling nieces voicing their excitement for the Christmas season. An Agren favorite is definitely the lights at Temple Square. These are particularly special to CJ and me because we were sealed in that temple  (which is located on the grounds of Temple Square) 2.5 years ago. We’ve also been to temple lights at the Mesa Temple in AZ. This provided for a much more enjoyable experience 😉 . What are you favorite places to see lights? Anything you’d recommend? Leave me a comment/suggestion!

Basically, this is is simple look to replicate. Start by finding your most comfortable and warm coat. This can be a black down coat like mine, or any other that is super warm. Trust me, walking around in even 40 degree weather can end up getting chilly.  Most of us won’t be that lucky!! The next most important step is wearing comfortable and appropriate shoes. I chose my Sam Edelman boots. They have the best grip on the bottom because they’re rain boots,. This makes them perfect for snowy night walks. Don’t forget wool socks if you are rocking rain boots like me!

Accessories always come last. For a pop of color, I added this color block scarf,  which was gifted to me early from my sweet mother in law. Top it off with a beanie and you’re good to go. I always wear beanies; refer to this, this and this.

COAT: Victoria’s Secret (so old! I’ve had it since I was 18. Similar here), JEANS: LOFT, POM BEANIE: Urban Outfitter (I like this one better-extra 40% off here), SCARF: H&M, BOOTS: Sam Edelman (also similar here). LIPS: Colourpop “Notion” (This was highly requested by people on my Instagram story! Thanks, babes! xox).

In case there is any confusion, just wear a thermal tee or thick sweater underneath your coat.  I recommend carrying hot chocolate or having hand-warmers in your pockets. It makes the entire experience more enjoyable!

There you have it! Tune in next time to know what to wear while decorating the house! (It might be a little late for some of you, but you’ll appreciate the thought for next year.)

Happy shopping,

Cortney
