Bye 2016. Love, Cortney.

Hi dolls. I bet you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing, where I’ve been. Who am I kidding? I’m sure some of you didn’t even notice that I haven’t posted in awhile. There’s no exact reason to my absence. I just haven’t been feeling like my blog is meaning anything lately. Debbie downer? A little! I also had the opportunity to go to my hometown for Christmas. This was a good time because no matter how nuts my siblings and I make each other, we generally cherish the memories after (at least I do). The problem with being around them is that they have so many cute little kiddies (my nieces and nephews) so I spend most of my days chasing them around when we’re together. I didn’t really look at my phone much, which means I felt no motivation to take photos or create new content. In the grand scheme of things, my blog probably means almost nothing to other people.  When it comes to CJ and I, I like to think of it as a personal journal of what we were up to even if I don’t get super touchy-feely in each post.

CJ starts school tomorrow. His second to last semester of school. What a blessing that realization is. Things are changing at our house as we are about to sign another lease for the last time. It is bitter sweet when we think of the blessings that we were afforded as a super young married couple. It’s weird to think we are more than halfway to our third year of marriage. Time is flying by. He’s been so good to me about this little blog. There is nothing more motivating when he says things like, “We haven’t shot anything for the blog in awhile. Do you want to take some photos?” That was probably the best part of 2016. CJ decided my blog was cool. I guess that’s easy when he gets free things from it. *Insert hand on chin emoji*

Anyway, this is whole lot of jumbled thoughts. Let’s take a look 2016 and I’ll say thanks. Thanks for all the likes, sweet comments and support. There are so many people that I need to individually thank for their kind, motivating words. I hope you’ll accept a blanket “thank you” to all of you. Your love and friendships mean so so much to me!

Back to the clothes:

2016 had some super cute clothes. It also had some yikes outfits. Let’s take a look back:

Easily, easily one of the most beloved tops of the year! Thanks LOFT for making it so cheap. Haha.

This was the first photo ever to receive 300+ likes on my Instagram page. Thanks, y’all!

The LDD made an appearance three times, and each time people went crazy for this little dress! __7D1225__7D1136

(The above photo was my first real collaboration with a big company-Jane.com. This was easily the most reposted image of 2016 for me). The original posts were posted in two parts for two different ways to style the popsicle tee. img_0262__7D8446img_0493__7D2597

Worked with amazing people, including my former roommate Lexi Hall who took so many beautiful photos.  With her help, CJ and I were finally in more good photos together. I also learned that my readers love CJ and hearing about our simple life. __7D0450__7D0074

Got reposted on Banana Republic’s website when I had almost no followers for this photo with no feet. Haha, thanks Ceej for the awesome iPhone shot.

Learn the art of “self timing”.

Refashioned old clothes to look like new, and readers went BANANAS. (Does anyone else sing Holla Back Girl when trying to spell bananas???)

There is the photo list of my favorite looks from 2016. I tried to add little points below each photo to tell you my thought or what happened in 2016. My little blog grew so much year!! Thank you-thank you! 2016 was pretty good to us. We are excited to accomplish new goals this year.

xoxo

  1. You know most fashion blogs drive me nuts because they don’t seem real and they just seem unrealistic, like who really dresses that nice every single day. But I love yours. You are real, your outfits are realistic (and insanely cute..if you want to come and pick out all my outfits for me) and you find us great deals so fashion can be affordable. Not to mention I laugh quite a bit in your posts, so keep it up lady!
